PEOPLE are being encouraged to take the plunge and join the Redditch Sub Aqua Club, which was founded more than 50 years ago.

For many years it met at the former Hewell Road Swimming Pool, but is now settling into its new home at the refurbished Abbey Stadium with its state-of-the-art pool and facilities.

Redditch Sub Aqua club meets every Tuesday evening at the Abbey Stadium from 8.30-9.30pm when it has exclusive use of the pool, and anyone 14 years old who is interested in joining can go along and meet members there.

A spokesman said: “Our fees are low and we offer a free "try dive" to those who would like to have a go, so why not come along and dive in.

“We have plenty of active and social members but are always delighted to receive interest from new members.

“Some people join prior to going on holiday, to learn to dive with us before making full use of their time whilst away in warmer waters.

“We are a friendly active club , which has social events and club dive holidays both in the UK and abroad.”

The club welcomes people who can already dive but want to brush up their skills or gain BSAC qualifications, for which it provides training.

It also owns it own club dive boat - a rib - which is based in Plymouth and is used to train members in open sea diving training and fun weekends away for members.
