THE Monday Night Football Club, which has run for more than 20 years, providing five-a-side fun for a mental health group in Redditch, has held a charity much for a great cause.
The club has always used Redditch Youth House as its venue, and after hearing that the youth facility is in danger of closing, the football team decided it wanted to help by raising money through a sponsored football match.
A staff team from Orchard Place Day Hospital took on a team made up of clients and their friends. The staff lost out in a close match which ended up 12-10 to the Monday Night Football Club.
All money raised will be given to Redditch Youth & Community Enterprise (RYCE) which is trying to raise enough money to keep the centre open.
A spokesman said: “The event was also run just to highlight that other groups do use Redditch Youth House and it is really valued.”
