RESIDENTS in Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich are being asked to look after their safety when driving, cycling and walking, as the nights creep in.

Worcestershire County Council is warning drivers to beware of cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders, and watch out for potholes, animals and fallen branches in the road, while pedestrians are being asked to wear light or reflective clothing and stay on footpaths where available.

Cyclists are being reminded that it’s the law to use lights on bikes, and advised to wear reflective clothing and add additional lights where they can.

Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member with responsibility for highways and transport, Councillor John Smith, said: "We're very keen to ensure that our residents in Worcestershire are as well informed as possible about keeping safe on the roads, however they are travelling. The information and advice on the county council's website is very clear and user-friendly, and we hope that with this support everyone will have a safe winter in Worcestershire."
