A REDDITCH woman has made it to the final of a premier international cake decorating competition.

Fiona Bull, owner of Redditch-based Scarlett’s Cakery, has made the shortlist for the Knightsbridge PME Cake Decorator of the Year 2012.

As part of the judging process, she will have to recreate her entry – a replica of the McLaren Formula 1 car being driven this season by Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton – at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on November 11.

Ms Bull has already won £50 for making the final and will net a further £500 if she is judged the overall winner.

It is the second successive year that she has tasted success at the Cake International event.

In 2011 she won a bronze medal for her Sculpted Novelty Cake - a cat sleeping on a cushion having attacked a partially knitted jumper.

Ms Bull said: “Cake International is the event to be seen at in the world of cake decorating with the best cake designers from all over the world showcasing their latest masterpieces.

“I was amazed to hear I had made the final but I’m really looking forward to testing myself against the other finalists and hopefully inspiring visitors to the event to try to create the racing car cake for themselves.”

Scarlett’s Cakery was started by Fiona in 2011 and produces traditional and modern cakes, cupcakes and cake pops for weddings, birthdays and other occasions.
