A MIDLANDS millionaire noted as a business trailblazer will be key speaker at a major Worcestershire event next month.

Entrepreneur, Kavita Oberoi, star of TV’s Secret Millionaire, will be the guest on Friday, April 30 at Worcestershire Institute of Chartered Accountants’ annual dinner, at the Graeme Hick Pavilion, Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

Michael Izza, ICAEW chief executive, will attend the event, which is sponsored by Hays Personnel and MFG solicitors.

Ms Oberoi, from a traditional Indian family, broke with tradition to set up and run Derby-based Oberoi Consulting, a healthcare IT company, which now provides IT training for one in five GP practices and many primary care trusts.

Among her strengths is her flexibility, vital as a wife and mother running a business. She will tell how she capitalises on change and now ranks among Britain’s 100 entrepreneurial women by growing her reputation, expertise and perspective.

Event organiser, Liz Needham, director of Malvern’s Kendall Wadley LLP accountancy practice, said: “It will be excellent to hear a young businesswoman’s account of how she has become so successful.”

Celia Adams, chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Worcestershire, said: “What she has to say is very encouraging and speaks to the moment. We expect this event to be fully booked.”

The Chamber of Commerce, with Worcester University Business School, also runs Business Tune-Up workshops, led by Celia Adams and Graham Wood, specialists in guiding businesses facing difficulties.

Business managers are intended to benefit from expert advice at the workshops, from 4.30pm to 6pm, on Mondays. The next is on next Monday. For details, contact celia@celiaadams.co.uk
