OLYMPIC and Commonwealth Games medallist Kriss Akabusi will be the special guest at a Kidderminster recruitment firm’s charity ball.

eResponse, which is based in Church Street, is hosting the gala evening at the National Motorcycle Museum in aid of the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Kriss shot to fame representing Team GB in the 1984 and 1992 Olympics where he won medals in the 4x400m relay in both competitions and the 400m hurdles in 1992.

Now a successful broadcaster and motivational speaker, the 56-year-old will speak about his career and the importance of building an engaged team.

The event, which is taking place on January 29, will also include an auction, prizes, music and a five-course meal.

Paul Alekna, eResponse managing director, said: “Kriss is one of the most interesting sportsmen of his generation.

“His enthusiasm and humour is infectious and we’re looking forward to hearing from him on the importance of building an engaged, winning team.

“We’re delighted to have him at the event and the ball promises to be a brilliant night out and a great opportunity for local businesses to network and let their hair down at the same time.

“It’s all for a good cause and we’re raising money for an enormously worthwhile charity in the form of Make-A-Wish which helps make dreams come true for three to 17-year-olds with life-threatening illnesses.”

A small number of tickets for the ball, costing £300 for a table of 10, are still available.
