A FAMILY run shop that has built a strong reputation has celebrated its 35th year in business.

Broad Street DIY opened in 1979, named as the Sidemoor street where the business was based. It started from humble beginnings as local deliverys were made using a trailer hitched to an old Cortina car.

In 2001 the shop moved to its current Worcester Road location. The larger premises meant a wider range of products could be stocked and an outside yard, in Factory Lane, allowed for greater expansion.

Today, three generations of the Warren family work at the company, including Tony the boss, while the day-to-day running of the story is managed by sons Paul and Brian, Paul’s wife Hayley and his sister Lisa.

Despite the difficult economic climate of recent years, Broad Street DIY has enjoyed a sustained period of growth.

Tony said: “Whilst we have improved our offering and expanded into new areas, it is the strong focus on customer service and a united family team which has really helped us remain in business for so long."
