The West Midlands is readying to welcome back Aussie star of stage, screen and the pop charts, Jason Donovan, as he heads up a major new revival of the beloved, Tony Award-winning Musical Western classic, Annie Get Your Gun. He will appear alongside TV, Film and Theatre star Emma Williams, who will be playing the title role of Annie Oakley and Normal Pace as Buffalo Bill in the new production from the producers of recent revival hits South Pacific and West Side Story.

“I’ve been very lucky in having some great roles to get my teeth into in the past, but now having the chance to star in the UK premiere production of this award winning version of such a classic musical is very exciting.” Donovan said of being involved in the production.

“I’m very much looking forward to performing such brilliant songs and appearing alongside a truly great cast as we bring the Wild Wild West to theatres across the country.”

With timeless classic songs including 'There’s No Business Like Show Business' and 'Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better', Annie Get Your Gun tells the legendary story of Buffalo Bills Wild West sharpshooter, Annie Oakley, and her romance with fellow sharpshooter Frank Butler. When Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show comes to town, it only takes one glance for sharp-shooting Annie to fall head over heels with Frank, but both reveal their fiercely competitive natures as they vie for best shot - and each other’s hearts.

Leading lady Emma Williams is no stranger to musicals, having been nominated for a prestigious Olivier award for her performances in Chitty, Chitty, Bang Bang and Love Story, and is excited to be stepping into the saddle with another iconic role:

“I’m thrilled to be playing the legendary Annie Oakley. [She] has been played by so many incredibly actresses before that it’s a privilege to fill those cowgirl boots, and I couldn’t be more excited to be 'Doin’ What Comes Natur’lly'!”

Howard Panter and The Ambassador Theatre Group are proud and excited to be taking the show on tour across the UK, and all musical theatre enthusiasts and cowpoke ought’ dust off their tassles and boots and head on down to the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, where the show will be running for one week only commencing Tuesday 1st July!

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN will be running at the Birmingham New Alexandra Theatre from Tuesday 01 - Saturday 05 July 2014.
