It has now been 4 weeks since i have returned from my life changing trip to the Gambia, i really meant to do a blog as soon as i came back but the truth is i was so ill for around 2 weeks after and now i'm doing as much revision as i can for my exams, but now back to Gambia, if there is one world to describe the trip it would be Intense and emotional really.

We crammed a lot into a week every day we did something which was great for the experience, we went to the schools and did painting and acitivites with the children e.g. drawing, sport, games etc, we also visited a village called Kutisilo which is one of the most deprived villages in the Gambia, that one was the real eye opener i just remember standing there in shock not even being able to speak at times, the smell was worse unfortunately the heat did'nt help this, there was rubbish and glass and faceas every where i looked, the boy that was holding my hand didn't even have any shoes on, he could of easily cut his feet i honestly could of cryed and cryed.

The hotel was stayed in was in the village of Bakau, the hotel was really nice and a good standard compared to the places we visited in the Gambia, it was called the African Village Hotel, the food was ok not great but i didn't really expect it to be. The one thing this life changing experience has told me is that before now i have really took too much for granted, it's also made me feel proud to be British and also proud of my country, if you moan about Britain go to the Gambia you will never moan again!

Once i came back and also while i was there i suffered badly with the Malarone which was the malaria tablets we had to take, i had a bad stomach most days and once i got back for around 3 weeks i was constantly having bad bouts of Diareah and at one point it was terrible, this lead to me having to have blood tests however i can now say i'm completely back to normal and i'm so glad. It's now the start of May already, i really don't know where the year has gone, my last official day of school is 24th May, then we come back into school after half term for exams, i really can't believe high school is almost over i'm really looking forward to starting college as it will be a new chapter in my life but i will be so sad to leave school there will be some teachers in particular that i will really miss!
