Music festival cancelled

A MUSIC festival that's due to be staged at Ragley Hall this weekend has had to be cancelled because of a lack of ticket sales.

The organisers of the concert confirmed that it would not go ahead because they have not sold sufficient tickets to make the festival viable.

However, they did stress that the concert was only postponed and it would be taking place instead toward the end of the summer.

No formal announcement has been made as to the rescheduled date.

A spokesman said: “A decision was taken by the directors of Monarchy Live and SMR Entertainment Ltd to postpone the music festival.

“This regrettable decision was taken in light of the fact that the event had not sold sufficient tickets to make the festival viable on this date.

“This has been due to a number of external factors including the current economic climate.”

The festival was due to feature some of the very best in indie, dance and emerging new music all playing in the grounds of Ragley Hall.

Acts confirmed included headliners the Happy Mondays, Supergrass, Reverend And The Makers, Bombay Bicycle Club and My Tiger My Timing.

The spokesman added: “We have taken on board various comments and suggestions from festival goers and the rescheduled event will be improved to reflect these suggestions making it better value for money and a superior festival experience.

“These suggestions have included providing camping facilities, shuttle buses, further improvements to the current artist line up, all of which are currently being negotiated.”

Those who bought tickets can either retain them for the rescheduled event or claim a full refund by emailing info@monarchy-live.co.uk with details of their Paypal purchase.

Where tickets have been purchased from Monarchy Live official ticket sellers, people are advised to contact them directly.
