American Independence Day fair

AMERICAN Independence Day will be marked in true stars and stripes style in Haselor on Saturday with an American-themed day.

A bucking bronco contest and a display of American cars will be the star attractions at Haselor School’s American Independence Day fair.

Other attractions include American football, line dancing, an American-themed children’s fancy dress contest, an American bar and BBQ and the chance to meet Aston Villa mascot Hercules who will officially open the fair.

Event organiser Stephanie Evans said: “The rodeo is proving to be a hit. We’ve all seen people hanging on to these macho electronic bucking bronco machines on television, and this is the chance to prove if you are a real cowboy or cowgirl.

“The other macho thing on offer will be a selection of stunning American cars.

“We are really lucky that two of Warwickshire’s leading collectors will be bringing some of their prized possessions for us to view including a Plymouth Prowler hot rod, a massive Dodge Ram pick-up and a Ford Mustang.”

Mrs evans added: “On the entertainment side we have the Redditch Arrows American Football Youth Team doing a display, the Rebels Line Dancers and Studley Gymnastics Club.

“Add to this an American-themed bar, BBQ and teas and we really believe we have something for everyone.”

The fair, which takes place on Haselor School’s playing fields, is on this Saturday, July 4 between noon and 3pm.
