AS part of a week long gliding competition special guests, pilots and gliders flew into Bidford last week.

Bidford Gliding Club hosted the competition which saw 86-year-old Derek Piggott, one of Britain’s best known glider pilots and instructors, take part in the fun and games.

Mr Piggott, who has also starred in a number of films and has released books about flying, was joined by the women’s and men’s Great Britain’s World Gliding Team and other pilots who were put through their paces with a wide range of tasks.

They competed in a variety of airborne challenges taking them on journeys from 200km up to 500km.
