Making the most of trash scheme

RESIDENTS in Alcester made the most of an opportunity to have a good clean up around the house when Warwick-shire Rural Housing Association provided them with skips free of charge.

The social landlord, which specialises in providing homes in rural locations for people with a local connection to the area, arranged for four containers to be placed in Crooks Lane Estate, on Friday, June 20.

The first arrived at 8am and was filled to the brim within two hours, and while the second was sent to take the overflowing items, it too was quickly filled.

As a result, a third and fourth had to be ordered, which took even more unwanted furniture, garden rubbish, broken toys and household items, all removed and emptied at no cost to tenants.

Patricia O'Brien, of Beacon Road, said the skips were much appreciated.

"It was great, a really good idea.

"I went through everything the night before and as soon as the first skip arrived I was outside getting rid of all sorts, from a sofa to wood and garden furniture," she said.
