A YOUNG entrepreneur from Alcester has successfully launched a range of products that can help an iPhone survive a 45-foot drop.

Cofounder of Mous James Day, aged 24, along with his team, managed to raise more than $700,000 in two months to fund a range of iPhone products made with Airo Shock, a type of material containing micro air pockets to compress impact and thus breaking an object's fall.

Unlike many durable cases, which are large and bulky, the Limitless cases only add 2.6mm of thickness and boast ‘military grade’ protection.

The range is the combined effort of James together with Josh Shires, James Griffith and William Mullen.

Previously in 2014, Mous invented a successful iPhone case with integrated earphone storage and a winder to stop tangling.

On the new products, James said: "The reason we decided to go down this project was partly due to our heritage in phone cases already but largely due to the fact we’d noticed a real gap in the market.

"Cases seem to be either very bulky and protective, or pretty but break upon first drop.

"With the Limitless range, we believe we’ve created the perfect blend, extreme protection, sleek design and authentic materials like wood, Kevlar and marble."

To prove how effective the cases are, James Griffith put his iPhone into one and dropped it from a 45-foot crane. The phone emerged unscathed.

The team also tested their product by launching an iPhone at a brick wall, dropping one from Waterloo Bridge in London and throwing another recklessly around an Apple store. In all occasions, thanks to the specially designed cases, the iPhones survived without a scratch.

According to Mous, the greater the drop the more protection provided by the case.

James added: "We’re hoping to build a range of accessories, like our already available car mount and modular magnetic wallet, which all work with the base case - a modular system that all works together and solves the unique problems each person has."

The starting price for a case is $34 plus shipping and they are available to fit the iPhone 6 and 7 and plus models.

Every case has a free mount which can stick to almost every flat surface around the house.
