KIND-HEARTED pupils from an Alcester high school donated 106 shoeboxes to deprived children living in Eastern Europe.

St Benedict's Catholic High School pupils put together the boxes, containing essential items including toys, educational and hygiene supplies, with help from staff and their families.

The boxes were then given to charity Teams4U for the organisation transport to vulnerable children, nurseries, day-centres and orphanages overseas.

On Monday, November 14 a group of students visited the Teams4U warehouse in Evesham and we were given the opportunity to look around to see how it all works.

A school spokesman said: "Many thanks to the staff, students and parents who supported our annual shoebox appeal, working with Teams4U in Evesham.

"A special thanks to Year 13 student Rebekah Randles, who has volunteered with Teams4U for several years, and has taken the time to coordinate our appeal in school.

"Rebekah, along with many other St Benedict’s students, volunteers her time during evenings and over weekends, to help to pack the shoeboxes ready for them to be loaded onto the lorry which will travel overland to Romania."
