BUILDING work has started to create 34 privately-owned retirement apartments for over 60s in Alcester.
The development, in Fields Park Drive, will include a mix of one and two-bedroomed homes, which will be available to buy "off plan" in January, with the first occupants expected to move in next summer.
Robert Monkman, regional sales and marketing director for developer McCarthy and Stone West Midlands, said: "Retirement Living offers those over 60 the independence of home ownership combined with the peace of mind of additional security and low maintenance – allowing homeowners to spend more time socialising with family and friends.
"We have already been inundated with interest even at this early stage."
The development, which is close to a Post Office, Waitrose, banks and restaurants, will feature landscaped gardens, a guest suite and home-owners' lounge.
It is just 100m away from a doctor's surgery.
Occupants will have their own house manager on hand to run the development, organise community events and provide support.
Security will include a camera door entry system and 24-hour emergency call point.
