GREAT Alne based Purity Brewing Company will be raising a glass or two after winning three prestigious awards within a matter of days.

It adds to a long list of awards won by the brewery since it was created over 11 years ago.

Purity founder Paul Halsey couldn't hide his delight at the success, he said: " I'll be drinking to all the 'Puritans' who make us what we are."

Having already obtained a major prize at the IWSC Beer Awards for their Mad Goose brew, Purity then picked up two gold medals within a matter of days at the highly prized SIBA Midlands Beer Competition held at the Birmingham Beer Festival.

Purity's Longhorn IPA took gold in the Small Pack Strong Bitters and Pale Ale category which proved an exceptional triumph as it was the only canned beer to win an award on the night.

Completing the hat-trick was Purity's Pure Gold which stayed true to its name by winning the Standard Bitters and Pale Ales section.

There was also a bronze medal for Pure Gold in the overall champion results to cap off a great night for the brewery, the top prize going to Brampton Brewery from Nottinghamshire.

An indication of just how prestigious the SIBA awards are taken is the fact there are some 275 Midland brewers listed in the 2017 Good Beer Guide.

Paul Halsey added: "What a week! SIBA is a top competition and there were an awful lot of entries this year from some highly respected Midland brewers, so to come away with another three awards was fantastic.

"A special mention must go to the team's canning process with Longhorn as the only canned beer to win gold."
