PURITY Brewing Company, in Great Alne, has won 'Best Bitter' at the first ever Beer Awards hosted by the International Wine and Spirits Competition Group (IWSC).

The latest accolade sees Mad Goose named a five star beer and extend its incredible run of national and international awards. The 4.2 per cent zesty pale ale is brewed with Maris Otter, Caragold and wheat malts, with Pilgrim bittering hops and cascade and Willamette aroma hops.

Purity founder Paul Halsey said: "It’s great to see Mad Goose being recognised as a truly great beer. From its real life visitor-terrorising namesake at the farm, to the latest brew, Mad Goose remains a true fan favourite and an integral part of the Purity story."

The Beer Awards’ aim is to highlight exceptional beers in order to make consumer drinking choices that little bit easier, with medals acting as a credible point of difference on a crowded shelf to influence purchasing decisions both on and off trade.

Ewan Lacey, managing director of the IWSC Group, said: "The sheer volume and variety of entries this year have surpassed expectations and we are incredibly excited to grow the awards and recognise as many outstanding beers as possible in the future."
