ORGANISERS of the latest Alcester and Forest of Arden Food Festival have described the event as “bigger and better than ever”.

Thousands of people flocked to the market town on Saturday to enjoy a variety of award-winning and quality produce.

More than 130 stalls lined the town’s streets selling cheese, bread, pies, herbs, sauces, oils and marinades as well as sausages, fresh and cured meats, cakes, chocolates and puddings.

There was also a range of beers, ciders, wines and spirits as well as street food to tantalise the taste buds.

Event chairman Steven Brown said: “The park and ride was overflowing and we have already had some wonderful feedback from the stallholders saying they had a superb day

“We had more visitors than in May, which is unusual but the weather was particularly kind to us. Typically we get around 20,000 visitors although it is quite hard to be accurate as we do not charge for entry and there are a number of entrances so it is impossible to try and count.”

All profits are ploughed back into the festival, the town’s infrastructure and also used to support the voluntary organisations who help out on the day.

The next food festival will be the spring edition due to be held on May 20 2017. For more information, visit alcesterfoodfestival.org.uk.
