THE new high bailiff of Alcester Court Leet has been announced with the official ‘crying in’ which took place over the weekend.
Alcester Town Crier David Parkes made a public announcement outside St Nicholas’ Church on High Street, following the annual Court Leet election night on Thursday, October 6, where Ian Whitehead was named as the new high bailiff for the town.
Mr Whitehead said: "I am very pleased. One of things I have said, having lived in the town virtually all my life, is getting the opportunity to give something back in the town is very exciting.
"I am looking forward to the street market in June, which will have a superhero and supervillain theme. I am keen on doing things that involve both the children and the adults in the community.”
The new low bailiff is now Steven Brown.
Mr Whitehead will be holding his civic service next Sunday with a parade down the High Street, starting at Bleachfield Street at 2.30pm, and the service at St Nicholas' Church, followed by another parade to the town hall.
