A MAN has died following a crash between pedestrian and a lorry in the Ragley Estate during the set-up of APF 2016.

The smash at the event, which is the UK's largest forestry, woodland, trees and timber show, involved one of the event's staff members.

Two air ambulances, one with a doctor, a community first responder and an ambulance with a paramedic from West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene at the Palladian mansion in Arrow near Alcester, just after 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 13).

Warwickshire Police attended the scene shortly after 3.40pm, and are currently investigating the cause of the collision.

The health and safety executive has also been notified.

Ambulance staff treated a man for multiple injuries, he was then flew by helicopter to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he is believed to have died, just after 9pm last night.

A spokesman for the event said: "He received immediate first aid treatment by the on-site St John Ambulance staff and was subsequently flown to Birmingham Hospital for further treatment.

"Tragically, despite the best efforts of the doctors, he died yesterday evening around 9pm."

"As this is an ongoing investigation we will be unable to comment further at this stage.

"The APF Demo Team’s thoughts are very much with the family at this time and it is their wish that APF 2016 continues."
