A SALFORD PRIORS couple who have lived in the area their whole lives are celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

Trevor and Mary Millward of Evesham Road will celebrate with neighbours at their home on Thursday (September 15), before a family meal on Sunday.

Mrs Millward, 79, has lived at the house for her whole life and said that she could not have had a better husband.

She said: "We have had the perfect marriage.

"I do not think anyone could have a happier marriage than we do, we have always worked together. Neither of us have every wanted anyone else.

"We tell each other we love each other every day.

"As long as we have each other, that is all I have ever wanted.

"We are a close knit family, although some of our family live far away, they speak to us on the phone regularly."

The couple met at a dance in Harvington and they have two children named Dail and Neil or Martin as he is sometimes known due to his middle name.

Mrs Millward described the secret to a perfect marriage as: "Tell each other you love them all the time, do not make use of one another and comfort each other."

They also have two grandchildren, named Andrew and Alex as well as 2 great-grandchildren Alice and Esney.

Mr and Mrs Millward delivered newspapers including the Evesham Journal to newsagents after taking over the business in 1963, they did this until they retired in 1994.

Before this, it was Mrs Millward's Dad who delivered the newspapers since 1931.

The couple got engaged when Mrs Millward was 16 and Mr Millward 24, but they waited three years to get married.

Mr Millward, 87, said: "We are both really looking forward to it.

"We are having the neighbours round for some tea, cake and biscuits on Thursday and a family meal on Sunday, it will be lovely."
