VOLUNTEER drivers in Alcester and the surrounding district are being urged to help pensioners and other vulnerable community members get out and about.
People are needed to drive, either on a regular or occasional basis, to medical appointments at hospitals, doctors' surgeries, dentists' surgeries and day centres across the area.
This door-to-door service, ran by VASA, is available to anyone who has a genuine need for transport, who give three days' notice prior to a journey.
Drivers, who will need valid insurance and an MOT certificate, are paid at the rate of 45p per mile with a small administration fee per journey.
The service often takes people to the hospitals in Coventry, Birmingham and Oxford, and sometimes as far as London and Liverpool.
To volunteer you time call 01789 262886 or email services@vasa.org.uk.
For more information or to book a journey call the Alcester office on 01789 763117.
