WARWICKSHIRE County Councillor and town councillor Mike Gittus joined Alcester youngsters as they took part in a free monthly running club.

Kids Run Free, a national charity encouraging children to take part in exercise, recently launched the event at Jubilee Fields in St Faiths Road.

Cllr Gittus, who is also chairman of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, took part in the fifth event on Saturday, May 7.

He said: "Events like these fit the health and wellbeing agenda a treat.

"Catching the children early and instilling into them the whole issue of exercise, healthy living and educational achievement.

"Interestingly of course the second benefit is that the parents attend to and join in the activity. I would encourage anyone to come down and give it a go."

Youngsters up to 16 of all abilities are invited to the sessions on the first Saturday of every month from 9.30am.

Parents will need to register their children at kidsrunfree.co.uk.
