PATRIOTIC volunteers in Alcester donned overalls and painted 80 homes worth of communal fencing as part of the national campaign to 'Clean for the Queen’.
Residents and staff at Warwickshire Rural Housing Association (WRHA) used 200 litres of paint to cover many meters fencing throughout the housing scheme in Alcester.
Housing association chairman Derek Dyas and company secretary Craig Felts heading a 22-strong team of volunteers on Friday, April 8.
A spokesman for the event said: "They completed in all. They started at about 10am and finished by 3pm, they were working the whole time. Some residents who had not signed up came out and joined in and others that did not get involved in the painting helped out by making cups of tea. It was a real community effort, which was the whole point of it."
To ensure a first class job is completed, guidance and support was provided by professional painters, JR Allens & Sons.
The 'Clean for the Queen' event is part of the national campaign to clean up Britain in time for the Queen's 90s birthday.
