COMMUNITY-spirited volunteers from the environmental group Litter Free Alcester are backing a national campaign to give the country a tidy-up ahead of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The Clean for The Queen campaign is expected to see more than a million people clean up the country over three days starting on March 4.

The project is supported by the Government, businesses, various organisations and charities aims to give the Queen, who has her official birthday on April 21, a gift that everyone can all benefit from.

Litter Free Alcester will be championing the event in the town by leading a spring clean on Saturday, March 5 between 10am and 3pm.

Litter Free Alcester member Susan Juned said: "We are delighted to be supporting Clean for The Queen and we would encourage as many groups, individuals and organisations in Alcester to take part."

Volunteers can meet at the Jubilee Centre where litter picking equipment will be available.

Litter Free Alcester is supported financially by Alcester Town Council, Alcester Food Festival and Alcester Rotary Club.
