THE future of Britain’s biggest celebration country sports, which is due to take place in the Ragley Estate next year, has been saved thanks to new investors.

Last month the CLA Game Fair, hosted by the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and dating back to 1956, was called off after it failed to generate enough income in each of the last three years.

Recently, new investors stepped in to save the historical event, which is now billed as the Game Fair, with the same team organising the event but without CLA involvement.

It will be taking place at Ragley every two years, with another venue planned for 2017, yet to be announced.

This will be the third time Ragley has hosted the event, which is taking place using the original dates of July 29 to 31, and is expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors.

The Game Fair’s event director Tony Wall said: “Following the devastating news the CLA announced last month we are all, as a team, delighted to be part of the continuation of The Game Fair.

"The continued encouragement from sponsors, industry stakeholders and the shooting community has been overwhelming to continue this countryside institution.

"We will look forward to seeing everyone come together to show their support for this incredible and historic event.

Media and marketing head Charlie Thomas said: "We have been very moved by the support and enthusiasm from exhibitors, contractors and visitors alike, this truly is a show like no other.

"We are certain by working with the key organisations, rural communities and embracing hunting, fishing and shooting we can deliver an event which will welcome and include all those who enjoy a passion for the countryside and field-sports."

Henry Hertford, 9th Marquess of Hertford and owner of Ragley Hall, said: "It is magnificent that this important event now has a clear way forward and we are of course delighted to be hosting the event again.

"We look forward to welcoming the crowds and to being part of creating a wonderful day out."

All tickets for the previous event have now been refunded.

The traditional event, known as a celebration of rural sports, farming, the countryside and high quality foods, will be introducing a new affordable pricing structure for tickets and exhibitor stands along with new memberships, VIP, camping and hospitality options.
