HUNGRY visitors to this month’s Alcester Food Festival will be in for a treat as a wide variety of tempting food and drink will take over High Street.

The festival, which is expected to once again see thousands flock to the market town, is being held in High Street and Church Street on Saturday, October 17 from 9am to 5pm.

The free to enter event will include numerous stalls offering a vast array of quality local produce including cheeses, pies, breads, cakes, fresh and cured meats, sausages, fruit, vegetables, a pig roast, street food, locally produced beers, wines and ciders.

Local shops will be open as well as cafes and pubs. Visitors can enjoy tea or coffee in St Nicholas’ Church before climbing up the church’s tower

A cookery competition with limited entries will run in the Holly Bush pub in Henley Street to find the best pudding, either sweet or savoury.

To apply, phone 07707469649. If there is no reply, leave a name and contact number.

An information stand will be in High Street to help deal with any problems and reunite separated families.

A free park and ride will operate from Adams Way, on the north side of Alcester, during the festival as the town centre car parks fill up quickly.

The event is organised by a team of volunteers, the Alcester and Forest of Arden Food Festival group.
