STUDENTS at Alcester Grammar School are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results.

More than two-thirds of all entries were graded A* to A and 32 per cent were graded A* with all but one student achieving the benchmark of 5 A* to C including English and maths.

Top performers were Sarah Davies, Rebecca Stirling and Finn Battersby who all achieved 11 A* grades.

Also placing highly were Elizabeth Hatton and Cody Stanley with 10 A*s and 1 A, and Sadie Loynds, Miranda Sealy and Frank May, who got 9 A* grades and 2 A grades.

Principal Clive Sentance said: “We are delighted with these results, which demonstrate the wonderful all-round progress these students have made over the last five years.

This year 11 cohort has a very bright future ahead and their excellent GCSEs are a great stepping stone to even better things in the sixth form and beyond.

“The majority will be with us for the next couple of years and will be joined by many top performers from other schools.

“We’re very much looking forward to seeing all of them develop as they tackle the challenge of A-levels and wider life in the sixth form.”

In maths 87 per cent of entries were graded A* to A. In the sciences, 82 per cent of entries were achieved A* to A, with most students taking separate science, and in English language the figure was 63 per cent.
