ALCESTER Male Voice Choir is appealing for new members from Redditch and the surrounding district.

A relaxed and informal taster session is taking place on Wednesday, September 9 in the Jubilee Centre, St Faiths Road, Alcester from 7.30pm.

The event offers potential new members a taste of what our choir is about, the songs they sing and the comradeship of the group.

There are no auditions but those that do join are committing to weekly rehearsals held on Wednesday evenings in Alcester.

When new members feel confident they will then take part in regular concerts, usually one per month.

These concerts are put on for various charities and organisations to help with their fundraising.

Judith Land BEM, FRSA, choir founder and director of music, said: "We do have many members from Redditch and surrounding villages and although gentlemen can join the choir at anytime of the year this annual event gives potential singers an opportunity to come along and meet existing choristers.”

She added that singers would also be able get an insight into what goes on behind the scenes of a large and successful choir.

Recently the choir sang in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, the Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall.

The choir will be returning to Birmingham Town Hall in April for its 42nd annual concert.
