ALCESTER’s spring food festival attracted more than 20,000 food and drink lovers to sample a variety of appetising delights.

The event, held over the weekend, was more popular than ever with over 130 stalls lining the High Street offering a vast array of quality local produce.

Frank Wood, chairman of the Forest of Arden Food Festival, said: “It went very well. I think it is a really good atmosphere.”

Mr Wood thanked fellow organiser Dianne Williams and electrician for the event Steve Hine who both worked extremely hard during the event.

He added that all of the people who help out during the event are voluntary.

An adult cookery contest ran in the The Three Tuns with this festival’s theme being pork pate.

The winners were Vincenzo D'Elia, who came first, in second place Joyce Harris and in third The Three Tuns.

A children’s cookery course was held in Church House, near to St Nicholas’ Church.

A park and ride service was in operation to take visitors from the Seco Tools UK car park in Springfield Business Park to the food festival.

During the festival, litter pickers were on hand to help clear up any rubbish and marshals, including several from local pubs, helped to keep the event well-managed.

The event, organised by the Alcester and Forest of Arden Food Festival group, ran throughout the day on Saturday, May 16.
