PEOPLE in Alcester and the surrounding district are being invited to attend a meeting about a new organisation which aims to help refugee children from war torn countries including Syria and Iraq.

Alcester Refugee Fund has been organised to help connect local people to youngsters who have fled from their homes due to violence and unrest in regions such as the Middle East.

The group was founded by Frank Wood and runs through a partnership with the Christian charity, Open Doors UK.

The goal is to raise funds whilst also creating awareness of the challenges and needs faced by these children.

Founder of Alcester Refugee Fund Frank Wood said: “The meeting is open to everyone who has an interest in the plight of these children and who wishes to do something to help them.”

Glenn Goss, the leader of Open Doors trauma unit, will be speaking at the event and bringing up to the date news from the front line.

The event, on Saturday, April 25 at Alcester Town Hall, is free to attend but a collection will be taken and all donations will be gratefully received.
