AN Alcester high school has appointed a new headteacher.

Pupils at St Benedict's Catholic High School, in Kinwarton Road, returned from their Easter break to find a new teacher in charge after Tim Sarah, who had been leading the school for 25 years, retired from his position.

Nick Gibson, aged 39, will now be taking over the reins after working as the school’s deputy head for the last two years.

He also taught at the school between 2001 and 2006 before joining the leadership team at a school in Nottingham as head of pastoral care.

Mr Gibson said: “I am delighted to have been appointed headteacher of our fantastic school.

“It is a privilege to work with such gifted staff and it is with a deep sense of commitment that we will continue to nurture the talents and abilities of our pupils.”

He added: “St Benedict’s will continue to challenge, educate and inspire its students within a caring, forgiving and supportive environment. It provides an education which is world class.”
