ALCESTER Rugby Club will be hosting a three-way charity tournament to raise cash for Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion.

The two-day event begins on Saturday, April 25 with Alcester playing against a team of ex members of the armed forces and Camp Hill at the club's grounds and the annual seven-a-side tournament taking place on Sunday.

Since the event began three-years-ago the club has managed to raise more than £8,000 for charity.

Organiser Steve Marchant said: “Everyone who has taken part has enjoyed it. Ex-servicemen are doing it for the enjoyment of playing.”

Organiser Erica Simons said: “The weekend is free to attend though donations are welcome.

“There will plenty for the family to watch and do and it’s usually a very entertaining event all in a good cause.”

The weekend will also feature further activities starting from 1pm on Saturday with a tombola, raffle, bouncy castle and barbecue.

Members from nearby clubs will be in attendance at the event including representatives from the Girl Guides and Help for Heroes.

The event is free to enter but donations are welcome with all money raised going to charity.

Free car parking is available. Both events will begin around 10am.
