A DEVOTED couple are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary this week after living in Alcester for 13 years.

Doreen and Reg Tinklin of Kingfisher Way, met during their teens in Kingshurst, Solihull. They were neighbours and would see one another when Reg returned from the Army.

They moved to Birmingham and were married at Bishop Ryder Church in Gosta Green, on March 26, 1955. The church was demolished in 1960.

The couple have three sons, Michael, aged 45, Steven, 58, and Adrian, 50.

Doreen says the secret to a happy marriage is to “face everything together” whilst Reg thinks its compromise.

“You’ve got to give and take, if you don’t you end up arguing. That is all I can really say about it,” said Reg.

Doreen said: “My mum and dad and his mum and dad both separated -that is what kept us. We stopped together because we were without fathers.

The happy couple will be celebrating their big day by going out for a meal and seeing their family.
