A NEW Citizens Advice Bureau offering advice to people in the surrounding district was recently launched at Alcester’s Jubilee Centre.

Mayor of Alcester Yvonne Hine formally welcomed the service called Reach Out and Help to the town at a special event held on Wednesday, March 4.

Support will be provided to people Alcester, Studley and Henley in Arden both at home and during drop in sessions, where residents can pop in and ask for advice.

The programme aims to identify people who are not getting the help they need and specially trained advisers will be on hand to offer help and guidance.

Sue Green, bureau manager at the CAB said: “We are really pleased to be able to expand this already successful project into the wider district.

“We know there are many people in our communities that aren’t getting the support they need, either because they feel no one can help them or they simply don’t know that help is available.

“This project will help to resolve this by taking our advice services right to people’s doorsteps and working more closely with other support organisations to get help to the people who need it.”

Maurice Howse, portfolio holder for enterprise, housing and revenues at Stratford District Council, said: “The district council remains committed to those more vulnerable members of the community who find themselves in difficult circumstances. Supporting the extension of the Reach Out and Help initiative with partners including Orbit Heart of England and the county council is a key step in this work”

Simon Lieberman, community investment manager at Orbit Heart of England, said: “Orbit is committed to investing in our communities, with the aim of supporting our customers to make positive changes in their lives.

“This project is a great initiative which will help local people get the advice or support they need in the comfort of their own home.”

The project, which has already been successfully running in Stratford town, has been funded by Orbit Heart of England’s Community Investment Fund, Stratford District Council and Warwickshire County Council to allow the CAB to increase their range of services.
