ALCESTER Royal British Legion is inviting residents to attend a presentation on the Gallipoli Campaign.

The talk presented by David Smith and entitled A Beach too Far will look at several areas including the lessons learnt from it and how these were applied 29 years later.

It will also look out how Gallipoli is often forgotten in this country but is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand despite more British and French people losing their lives in the battle.

Guests will be able to look at pictures from the time compared against images from present day and find out about the men of Alcester who served in the campaign.

The event is being held on Sunday, April 26 at Jubilee Centre, St Faiths Road in Alcester at 2.30pm.

All profits will go to the poppy appeal.

Tickets cost £8 and include afternoon tea. They are available from Sue Adams and seat can also be reserved by contacting David Malin on 01789 400427. Spaces will be limited.
