THE organisers of Alcester’s food festivals donated more than £3,000 to several community groups in need of a boost.

Frank Wood, chairman of the Forest of Arden Food Festival, gave cheques to St Nicholas’ Church, 1st Alcester Scouts, Alcester in Bloom, Alcester War Memorial Town Hall, the Alcester Court Leet High Bailiff’s Fund, Alcester Town Council’s Litter Free Alcester Group and the Depot Youth Club.

Mr Wood said that the committee of six dedicated volunteers had again worked hard to organise the May and October Food Festivals in 2014 in order to provide an enjoyable experience for both stallholders and visitors.

He thanked everyone for their involvement adding that this could not have been achieved without the support and help at each event of over thirty other volunteers, both individuals and those from local organisations.

The meeting held on Wednesday, January 14.

This year’s food festivals will be taking place on Saturday, May 16 and Saturday, October 17.

Anyone who would like to volunteer can get in touch with the chairman, Frank Wood on 01789 400300.
