CHILDREN at a Studley nursery holiday club received a valuable lesson in fire safety with the help of the local fire service.

The team from Alcester Fire Station visited youngsters at Bright Kids’ holiday club ahead of bonfire night celebrations.

The fire crew visited the nursery on The Slough to talk about taking precautions and staying safe and taking care around bonfire night and at firework displays.

As part of the experience, children were allowed to take their turn in the fire engine, where they explored the engine, sounded the siren and even got to use the hosepipe.

Tina Davis, manager at Bright Kids Studley, said: "This was a great opportunity for children of all ages to enjoy spending time with the fire service, explore the engine, and most importantly, learn more about the care that they must take at this time of year, and around fire in general.

"The officers kindly left us with a box of resources which will enable us to continue to enhance fire safety awareness, and we are very grateful to the team at Alcester station for giving up their time."

Bright Kids is also the sponsor of the Studley St Mary’s C of E Junior School bonfire, which takes place on Saturday, November 8 from 5.30pm at the New Road site.
