A PRIMARY school in Alcester has been donated £500 to fund new school resources.

Great Alne Primary School received the grant from Renaissance Villages; a property development and management company.

The money will be used to buy new curriculum books for Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils.

Headteacher Lesley Hendrie said: “We are very grateful to Renaissance Villages for its donation. The development of good literacy skills is imperative for all learning and we aim to foster a love of reading from an early age. Having a set of brand new books for our Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils is just fantastic.”

The company previously developed Maudslay Park, Great Alne’s new luxury homes for the over 60s, which is situated nearby the school.

Iwan Jones, Renaissance Villages’ managing director, said: “We are delighted to support Great Alne Primary School as part of our commitment to building a strong relationship with the local community.”

The school, which has around 90 pupils, was founded by Richard Seymour and dates back to 1836.
