SHAKESPEARE’S star-cross'd lovers will meet again in an open air performance of Romeo and Juliet at Coughton Court.

The classic love story will be put on by theatre company The Lord Chamberlain’s Men who are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.

The National Trust property near Alcester is providing the backdrop to the performance on Friday, July 18 which will have full Elizabethan costume and an all-male cast.

Spectators can sit back as see the tale of two feuding families, two young lovers, driven by passion and blind love who enter a forbidden affair which ends in terrible consequences.

Teas, coffees and a selection of traditional ice cream will be available.

Those attending are advised to bring a picnic, something to sit on and to dress for the weather.

Mark Puddle, director of The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, said: “Over the last 10 year we have travelled over 100,000 miles, touring to over 200 venues in seven different countries performing over 1150 shows so to celebrate our tenth anniversary we are enormously proud to present our most ambitious and spectacular production yet. The play’s eternal themes of love, honour and revenge still resonate with modern audiences.What could be more perfect for a summer’s evening than a classical telling of this immortal love story set against the background of one of the nation’s most beautiful historic houses.”

Gates open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start.
