A MAN who burgled an office at an Alcester care home has been warned that he could be facing ‘a significant sentence of imprisonment.’

Darren McKinley, 38, of William Malcolm House, Attoxhall Road, Coventry, pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court to two charges of burglary.

The court heard that in September last year he entered a staff office at the Cherry Tree Care Home in Stratford Road, Alcester, and stole a purse and its contents.

Two months later he carried out a similar burglary at the Acorn Surgery in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and again stole a purse and contents.

Although McKinley was likely to have been on licence at the time from a 15-month sentence he received in November 2012, his solicitor David Murray asked for a pre-sentence report.

Recorder Christopher Millington agreed, and remanded McKinley in custody while the report is being prepared.

He told McKinley: “I don’t want you to think that because I’m adjourning sentence in this case it offers you any promise as to what the sentence will be.

“All options will be open, including a significant sentence of imprisonment.”
