YOUNGSTERS at Birchensale Middle School recently held a double celebration.

Pupils planted 12 spruce tree seedlings to mark this year’s Jubilee Woods campaign, which aims to plant six million trees nationwide in honour of HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The tree planting also marked the annual Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Friday campaign, celebrating the sustainable production of wood and responsible forest management worldwide.

A school spokesman said that the pupils enjoyed the planting.
