£2,500 worth of horse equipment stolen

POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information after more than £2,500 worth of horse tack was stolen from sheds in Hollywood.

The theft took place in a field off Truemans Heath Lane between 6pm on Friday, September 21 and 7am on Saturday, September 22.

Items stolen from two sheds include six black bridles, two brown bridles, two Pessoa training aids and two bungee training aids, a pair of leather boots, two whips, reins, leather stirrups, and several cloths among other items.

PC Karen Johnson from West Mercia Police said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity at that location between the relevant times, and in particular any vehicles they saw there in unusual circumstances.

"The stolen items are quite likely to be sold on so we would appeal to anyone involved in horse riding or equestrian retail to get in touch with us if they are offered anything like this and suspect it is not from a legitimate source."

Residents are being reminded to make sure sheds have sufficient security in place to prevent their belongings being stolen.

Other advice includes fitting good quality locks, having battery operated alarms, installing dusk to dawn sensors and marking valuable items with a forensic marking product.

Anyone with information about the theft of the horse tack can call PC Johnson at Wythall Police Station on 101, quoting incident reference 178-S-220912, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
