RESIDENTS and staff at an Ullenhall care home have bid a fond farewell to a familiar face after their visiting GP retired after two decades.
Dr John Jacques has been making his rounds at Mockley Manor Care Home, in Forde Hall Lane, for the last 20 years.
Dr Jacques, who practices at Henley Medical Centre, in Prince Harry Road, Henley-in-Arden, will be presented with a card and a gift by residents and staff at the home.
Rachael Crocker, care home manager, said he would be missed.
“He’s been coming here every Tuesday for the past 20 years and everyone has really built up a good relationship with him.
“Some of the staff and residents who have been here for a long time have known him since the beginning and will be very sad to see him go. It’s almost like the end of an era.
“We know he is a keen walker so we bought him a book featuring various walks around Britain which we hope he will put to good use in his retirement.
“He has always been very helpful and everyone here would like to wish him all the best for the future.”
