ARROW Vale Singers, the popular Redditch choir, is encouraging local people to take up a new hobby, or perhaps return to an old one, this autumn.

Under the dynamic tutorship of new musical director, David Wynne MMus, Arrow Vale Singers is inviting new members to come along and join members in tackling a diverse range of musical styles, including new choral, West End and classic pop pieces, for an exciting programme of concerts in the run-up to Christmas.

These will include a fund-raiser to round off Crabbs Cross Methodist Church's bicentennial celebrations next month, and its own festive-flavoured annual concert in November.

Choir chairman Louise Carr said: "Autumn is traditionally a time when people start wondering what to do with their evenings, particularly with the nights drawing in.

“We would love to welcome both ladies and men, of all ages and abilities, to come along once a week to our relaxed and sociable rehearsals and enjoy learning a new skill, as well as making new friends.

“You don't have to be able to read music or have any prior training - if you can sing in tune, often find yourself singing along to the radio or in the car and enjoy meeting like-minded people, you will fit right in.”

The choir meets in Batchley Community Centre every Wednesday evening from 8-10pm, and is particularly keen to welcome singers aged 20-50, and men to swell the tenor and bass ranks.
