Special course in Redditch for parents and parents-to-be

REDDITCH young parents and parents-to-be will be getting up to ‘monkey business’ on Tuesday, September 4 as part of a special course.

They will be making a sock monkey and a book for their baby at the Old Needle Works as part of the Parents with Prospects Course.

The course is run at Sure Start Redditch Children’s Centres and Redditch YMCA by the Nationwide Community Learning Partnership (NCLP) and leads to a nationally-recognised award.

The 15-week flexible course covers issues such as child safety in the home, how children learn through play, reading and looking at books, feeding and healthy eating, dealing with teething problems and illnesses, and bonding with children. Parents and parents-to-be can join the course at any time.

Parents with Prospects is currently running on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Oak Trees Centre from 10am-2pm.

Emma Fisher, course tutor, said: “This is a fun and flexible way for young parents  and parents-to-be to learn about what parenting involves and to make new friends. We hope it helps them to feel more confident about the challenges ahead.”

To sign up or for more details, call Emma Fisher on 07951468518.

And for people who work full time ???? Or is this course, like most things these days, only accessable for the unemployed folk in the town?
