Redditch sneak-in burglars jailed

TWO Redditch men have been jailed for committing a sneak-in burglary at a house in the town earlier in the year.

Tyler Ellis, of Evesham Mews, and Michael Knight, of Lodge Road, both aged 22, entered a house on Chesterton Close through an insecure patio door on March 2.

The men then stole a Nintendo Wii, a grey jacket, wallet, £80 in cash and two sets of car keys. Forensic evidence from the scene led to detectives arresting the pair on March 15 on suspicion of burglary.

Ellis and Knight both pleaded guilty to the offence and were sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday, July 25.

Ellis was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison and Knight was given an 18 month jail sentence.

Detective Constable Robert Cockburn from Redditch CID said: "We are pleased with the custodial sentence handed to Ellis and Knight. I hope it sends a clear message to others involved in this type of crime that we remain ever vigilant and committed to bringing offenders to justice.

"Tackling burglary is a priority for West Mercia Police and we will carry on working as hard as we possibly can to reduce the harm that burglaries cause within our communities."
