RMT Motorcycle Training and Riders Club, a Redditch motorcycle training school, is getting ready to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the West Midlands Air Ambulance.

RMT is organising the yearly charity motorcycle ride on Sunday, August 12.

It is inviting all past students and riders from the area to join them on the day, even learners with L-plates are welcome, as we will not be going on the motorway. The event will start from the RMT offices at the Rubicon Centre, Lakeside, B98 8YP with registration from 9am.

The group will travel down through the fantastic scenery of the Cotswolds, stopping for refreshments near Morton-in-Marsh, before heading to The Washford Mill pub in Redditch for a barbecue and refreshments.

Non-bikers are welcome to meet participants at the pub at approximately 3pm.

Each bike will be asked to contribute £10 on the day, the money from this and the raffle, which will be held prior to departure, will be distributed between the two chosen charities.

Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity close to the hearts of staff of RMT Motorcycle Training, having lost a good friend and an avid biker to the illness, and this is the fourth year RMT has organised this ride out in his honour.

Simon Hayes, owner of RMT Motorcycle Training, said: “These events are about giving something back to these particular organisations that work tirelessly to help us and our families all year round.

“It also helps get a group of likeminded people together who show their support year in year out, so we would love to see as many people as possible joining us. We are aiming for 100 bikes again this year, which will reach a total of over £1,000.”
