Redditch to get £2million KFC drive-thru
1:10pm Sunday 15th July 2012 in News
IT has been confirmed that Redditch will be getting a new £2million KFC drive-thru.
The move is expected to change the face of the town, seeing the demolition of MacLellan House on Clews Road near Oakenshaw.
A number of job opportunities are also expected to become available.
Planning permission was recently granted with the giant US-based corporation saying it hoped to get building work underway as soon as possible.
The building, situated within a predominantly office-based business park, is due to be demolished in the late summer.
A spokesman from the popular chicken restaurant chain said that it was an ideal area for a new KFC.
“We think it is an excellent and exciting location and a great opportunity,” he said.
“This will be a significant new facility for Redditch and we are confident it will attract customers.
“Redditch is full of fast growing businesses, its residents tend to have a fast, all action lifestyle. Put fast food into the equation and you have the perfect combination.”
He added: “We have obtained planning permission for a drive-thru and aim to make a start soon on knocking down MacLellan House.
“We are talking about a significant investment along with job opportunities for Redditch people.”
The deal was put together by business property agents John Truslove.
Mr Truslove said: “A KFC drive through is a terrific development for the town.
“I am sure residents and workers will find it exceptionally convenient and it will very much complement the town’s other leisure facilities.”
The drive-thru has a planned opening date of March 2013.
